Last week, 2nd grade students at the RBE Library listened to The Chicken Chasing Queen of Lamar Countyduring story time.
This book has amazing voice and word choice, so we listened for the great words the beautiful way this story is written.
We also looked at the illustrations closely because in the book, there are mixed media illustrations. Our art teacher, Ms. Rader, is teaching about mixed media art in art class, so the kids were already wise about these illustrations!
After the story, students were given white paper, scissors, glue and some old magazines. They then created original artwork based off of characters, events, and ideas represented in the story in mixed media art!
