This week at the RBE Library, our Kinder and 1st grade students have been learning about retelling and that stories have certain parts. They learned about the beginning, middle, and end. They learned about problems and solutions, characters, and setting too.
In the library, we read a great book that I love for retelling called Good Little Wolf by Nadia Shireen. The Kinder readers looked at the Retelling rope and used popsicle puppets of the main characters to retell the beginning, middle, and end of the story. The 1st grade readers actually filled out the retelling page with all the different elements. Here are the pages for theĀ Retelling Activity
I love reading this book aloud, and the kids love it because it is a fractured fairy tale of some of their classic favorites: The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. The Big Bad Wolf and the Good Little Wolf are both kid favorites in this book!
