On February 27th and 28th, we hosted out RBE Library Bluebonnet bashes! Every year we like to celebrate with our Bluebonnet readers. And these parties were super fun!
Students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades who read 5 or more books from that year’s Bluebonnet list get to vote in a state wide election that is held every January. Our readers voted and you can read all about that HERE.
The Bluebonnet Bash is the chance for our students to find out what book won in the state wide election and celebrate the winning books. At the RBE Library, our winning book was Wonder, so we celebrated that book.
At our Bluebonnet bash, readers brought their lunch from home or from the cafeteria and got to sit anywhere they wanted in the library. We watched the Bluebonnet Announcement Video and found out that 10 Rules You Absolutely Must Not Break If You Want to Survive the School Bus by John Grandits and illustrated by Michael Allen Austin won!
Since we were celebrating Wonder, we also filled out Choose Kind Pledge and each reader got to have a Wonder Bookmark. The kids also got an Affirmation Page. The kids passed their affirmation pages around to each other ane everybody wrote down something that was wonderful about the person whose name was on the page. The kids also signed each other’s bookmarks, we listened to music, and they signed the national Choose Kind Pledge that the publisher has on the internet.
It was such a fun day to celebrate reading and great books!
