Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner and illustrated by Greg Hargreaves is about a ten year -old boy named little willy and his grandfather.
One day little willy’s grandfather just decides to stop living. Then little willy has to take care of his grandfather, himself, and the whole potato crop. Soon he discovers that he has to pay the bank $500 for taxes.
Then he stakes everything on one hope: that searchlight and him can outrun the legendary stone fox. But he has never lost a race yet. Can little willy win the race? Will something go wrong?
